Confabulation is a work in development, exploring memory and its relation to story, in collaboration with director Rob Watt, composer Jethro Cooke and producer Tom MacAndrew.
Research and development, funded by a National Lottery Project Grant from Arts Council England, has so far included dialogues with artists Roger Robinson, Kenny Baraka, Lucinda Jarrett and scientist Dr Sebastian Crutch; week of participatory workshops with ARC Stockton, working with primary school children, older people, the refugee community and associate artists; as well as a three month All Change residency at Alsen and Mildmays Care homes, together with photographer Letitia Valverdes.
During this R &D, Confabulation has evolved through three public facing performances, from an interactive spoken word piece at with Apples and Snakes, through a choral, participatory story-telling experience at ARC Stockton, into the end of the beginning, which took place at Half Moon Theatre, on April 27th 2019, a genre-bending auditory experience which cast the listener as protagonist in a near future Cold War between who we are and what we could become.
